Most new music is shit...

You know, I've been saying this since I started listening to music. Although The Beatles were no more, I had them as my starting point. Other kids at my age listened to KISS, AC/DC or ABBA. (Anything written in capital letters, was OK...)

I have since then broadened my taste a lot. But, with The Beatles it got broadened quite a bit from the start. Their songs could be anything from classical and contemporary music to pop, psychedelia and hard rock. Name any style of music from the last century and I'll give you at least one example of a tune with at least a clearly identifiable trace of said style, in it.
With this as a starting point, there's no wonder I'm thinking most new music don't live up to a high enough standard.

This doesn't mean that I don't listen to music of lesser quality. Take my glam rock fixation for example. But, if you think about it. Have you ever had a period in life when every new song on the radio, TV or elsewhere was great? No, most of it is shit! And to find gold you have to wash away a lot of dirt.

So most new music is shit. And has always been. But, I'm not giving up on new music because of that. That's just stupid and/or lazy. So go out and search for it. And if you need somewhere to start The Soundtrack Of Our Lives (or TSOOL in capital letters) is a good place to go. They're so good, I don't have to think that The Beatles did it better...
