Most new music is shit...

You know, I've been saying this since I started listening to music. Although The Beatles were no more, I had them as my starting point. Other kids at my age listened to KISS, AC/DC or ABBA. (Anything written in capital letters, was OK...)

I have since then broadened my taste a lot. But, with The Beatles it got broadened quite a bit from the start. Their songs could be anything from classical and contemporary music to pop, psychedelia and hard rock. Name any style of music from the last century and I'll give you at least one example of a tune with at least a clearly identifiable trace of said style, in it.
With this as a starting point, there's no wonder I'm thinking most new music don't live up to a high enough standard.

This doesn't mean that I don't listen to music of lesser quality. Take my glam rock fixation for example. But, if you think about it. Have you ever had a period in life when every new song on the radio, TV or elsewhere was great? No, most of it is shit! And to find gold you have to wash away a lot of dirt.

So most new music is shit. And has always been. But, I'm not giving up on new music because of that. That's just stupid and/or lazy. So go out and search for it. And if you need somewhere to start The Soundtrack Of Our Lives (or TSOOL in capital letters) is a good place to go. They're so good, I don't have to think that The Beatles did it better...

Got any glamrock?

I've been on a glam rock binge the last few months. Not the 80's type of hairy poodle glam. No, this is the real deal! Any glam rock from the 70's is interesting. There's something with the rocking rythms and carefree devil-may-care attitude of the artists. Make the feet stomp and lightens my mood. Every time!

If you don't know what I'm on about, I'm not gonna go any further than mention The Sweet and Slade. Still don't know? Check these groups out first. Then come back here and ask for more. I've got loads of it and I know where to find more.

Thanks to Proudfoot Sound, Crazee Kids Sound, Purepop, Vanilla Gorilla and many more glamtastic sites for making a lot of the more obscure groups known on the net.

PS. Don't mind the silly costumes. It's all for fun any way.

Where can I find it?

Years ago. Back in the early Eighties. There was a swedish group called Caramba. They released an album and their biggest hit was Hubba Hubba Zoot-Zoot. All nonsensical gibberish, but all the same a great song.

It was told then that the identities of the band members was secret. And they never toured. As far as I know there was only the one album. And then they disappeared. I read in a biography about ABBA that their producer was the man behind this album.

There's also a Wikipedia article that confim this. But, where can one find this album? Their hit is easy enough to find. I want the rest!
PS. If the people behind the magnificent blog http://listentoglamrock.blogspot.com/ read this, I'd really like to be invited to their blog.
